چکیده

رویارویی باورها و سنت‌های شرقی با آزادی‌ها و فن‌آوری غرب، موضوعی بسیار مهم و جنجالی است که دستمایه ی بسیاری از رمان‌های مشهور عربی است. در این مقاله به برجسته‌ترین این رمان‌ها اشاره شده است و از این میان، رمان «قندیل أمّ هاشم» از یحیی حقی، به لحاظ مضمون و ساختار مورد بحث و بررسی قرار گرفته و رمان‌های «موسم الهجرة إلی الشمال» از طیب صالح ، «الحی اللاتینی» از سهیل ادریس و «شیکاغو» از علاء الأسوانی معرفی شده است. دستاورد این مقاله، بررسی تفاوت این رمانها در پرداخت موضوع و نتیجه گیری های متنوع آنهاست. به عنوان مثال یحیی حقی سنت های خرافی شرق را مردود می داند و برخی ارزش های غربی را می ستاید و سعی دارد دین و معنویت شرق و علم و فن آوری غرب را درهم آمیزد و طرحی نو دراندازد.

The confrontation between Eastern traditions and Western freedom and technology is a controversial issue and the subject of many popular Arabic novels. The present paper points out some of the outstanding novels with the mentioned characteristics. However, “Ghandil Om Hashim” authored by Yahiya Haghi has been chosen to be analyzed in terms of theme and structure. Other novels “Mosem Al-Hejrat ela Al-Shomal” by Tayyeb Saleh, “Al-Hay Al-Latini” by Soheil Edris, and Ala Al- Alsavani’s “Shikagho” have also been discussed by their different subjects and outcomes. Yahiya Haghi rejects the Eastern superstitious traditions yet admiring some of the Western values; he endeavors to entwine Eastern religion and spirituality with western’s science and technology to create new trends
