Abstract

Interdisciplinary research of literature in the context of linguistics and semiotics leads to the reading of the connotation layers of texts, which among the modern strategies of poetry criticism, the semiotics model of Michael Riffateere is so effective. It is reader-oriented and grounded based on the reader's view. The signs of the text and the intra-textual signs of the poem are perceived in the semantic continuum, and the meanings are analyzed by exploratory and retroactive reading. This thesis tries to investigate the ode "Evacuation Day" semantic clusters and foundations using the descriptive-analytical method and relying on the pattern of the semiotics of Rifatterre. Therefore, he implications of the poetic language are represented by exploratory reading, understanding the apparent meaning, and by retroactive reading, so that the hypogram, structural matrix of the ode. Results suggest five accumulations "the passage of time, stability and unity of compatriot, foreigners, the Arab nation and Egypt" shows the main meaning of the ode, and three descriptive poems «the day of withdrawal, hatred, and anger against the enemies«, and the political situation depicts the mind-space of the poet. Its hypogram is expressed with centered- the promise of happiness and victory after enduring hardship, and alien colonization. According to the structural matrix, victory against enemies is promised, and in the following, by emphasizing the expression of humiliation and torment of the Egyptians, this thesis shows the domination of aliens and popular revolt, at last, implies the happiness.
