Abstract
Relationship between emotional intelligence and Arabic conversation
(Case study: B.A students of Arabic Language in Shiraz university)
Abstract
Among the various factors that are related to the Arabic conversation process, emotional intelligence can play an effective role. Students of the Arabic language with intrinsic skill, internal motivation, conscious of their communication skills and participate in class discourses will be able to overcome obstacles to progress. So, the main objectives of this research were to investigate the relationship between emotional intelligence and achievement of Arabic conversation. The descriptive correlation of this study was carried out with 80 masters students of Arabic language and literature at Shiraz University who were selected 42 of them with census sampling. The emotional intelligence questionnaire was ‘Bar-On’. Graduate students score were used as a tool for the achievement to Arabic conversation. The validity of the questionnaire was carried out by the content and structure and its reliability was determined by Cronbach`s alpha coefficients. Data were statistically analyzed using the analysis of SPSS in two descriptive and inferential levels (Pearson correlation and multiple regression).
The results showed a significant relationship between emotional intelligence and achievement to Arabic conversation. Among the components of emotional intelligence: The extent of the decrease in the progress on the Arabic conversation was In-person skills with correlation coefficient (R=0/409) > General Ethics (R=0/372) > Interpersonal skills (R=0/352) > stress management (R=0/256).
